Personality: Hei's mannerisms and behavior are strange for the likes of a Contractor, whose mentality shouldn't be affected by normal feelings of compassion or sorrow. Hei acts upon these emotions regardless, making him somewhat enigmatic. He displays a deep love for his sister, Bai, who disappeared during the events of South America and has been looking for her ever since. Hei is often torn between whether he is a human or a contractor, seeing he has the emotions and feelings of a human, however has the abilities of a contractor. As Li, he's quiet and good-natured, if not a bit odd. He has a bit of an awkward friendliness around him and plays it off as being a Chinese exchange student who doesn't know of Japanese customs.

History: Ten years ago, an inscrutable and abnormal territory known as Hell's Gate appeared in Tokyo and altered the sky and decimated the landscape. The heavenly bodies disappeared, replaced by false stars. At the same time, people who possess various special abilities emerged. Kept secret from the knowledge of the masses, these individuals, known as Contractors, are able to murder in cold blood. Various nations around the world use Contractors as spies and agents, often resulting in violent battles for information. Each fake star has a corresponding contractor, and they vibrate when their contractor's power is being used. However, their abilities are gained at the edge of their humanity. They lack human emotions, especially aversion to killing. Contractors usually work for one of various rival Syndicates as spies and assassins, although the ultimate purpose of the Syndicates is initially unknown.

Hei originally made a name for himself as the infamous "Black Reaper" in the Heaven's War five years ago in where he fought alongside his sister Bai, Amber, and Havoc among others, not as a Contractor but as a human. Mostly, however, he put imself through the emotional trauma of life-death experiences on a daily basis and the deaths of countless at his hands to understand his sister. As such, he was always by her side after every confrontation. Unfortunately, her remuneration was to sleep and after one of these her sleep became permanent.

Somewhere after this period, Bai supposedly latched her spirit to Hei's unbeknownst to him; thus giving him her powers while still being a human - a Contractor with no remuneration. Amber, in an attempt to keep the Heaven's Gate from being destroyed, used her own powers to send the entire region up into another plane of existence, thus making the entire region - encompassing Paraguay, Uruguay, half of Bolivia, northern Argentina and southern Brazil along with a 1,500 km radius around it - become completely inaccessible with countless people missing and presumed dead. Amber never told of this plan to anyone and Hei assumed her actions with flawed reasoning and assumed she betrayed his team and purposely tried to kill them along with the enemy and harbors a misguided hatred of her to this day.

Five years later, he resides in Japan under the alias of Li Shenshung with a new team consisting of Huang, Mao, and Yin doing miscellaneous "odd jobs" under the orders of the Syndicate. That is, until Amber once more brings herself into his life and turns more than just Tokyo upside down for Hei as he slowly learns what only Amber knows about his sister's whereabouts and his past.

Strengths: Hei possesses the ability to generate and discharge electricity through conductive media (i.e. he cannot discharge it through air or concrete), at sufficiently high amounts to kill grown men or short out a building's electrical systems. It is later discovered that his sister's contract, which Hei has inherited, also grants him the ability of molecular reconstruction. His trademark weapon is a knife on a metal wire, which he uses as an offensive weapon, a grappling hook, or as a conduit through which to discharge his electricity. Hei has no remuneration (what a Contractor pays after using their contract power), as he wasn't originally a Contractor. Since his job for his organization is to spy, he's very good at being stealthy and collecting information needed through any means possible. He's also a wiz at hacking into most computer systems.

Weaknesses: Unlike other Contractors, Hei is affected by his emotions; so during any situation where someone brings up rather taboo subjects (his sister Bai, Amber, the Heaven's War, etc.) he'll quickly fly into a rage where it'd be relatively easy to defeat him if you could avoid the initial onslaught. On the same coin, this would also make him easily manipulated if you can find the proper way to pull it off without him finding out.

As far as battles go, he is only proficient in short-to-middle ranged combat. When facing off against long-ranged powers, he can be sorely under classed and has to avoid attacks until finding a chance to bring it into close-ranged or escaping from said conflict
